Technology, Data and Algorithms are increasingly having a bigger impact on society. Society has been taught to genuflect before the altar of high tech and revere it for its so-called objectivity in efficiently addressing issues. The objective status of technology, data, and algorithms is only now starting to be questioned. Often simple questions are not asked, what is the need of the technology, is better than the current solution, does it make things worse, does it incorporate present inequities into it?
Presentation explores issues surrounding technology, data and law and their impact on underrepresented, marginalized and vulnerable populations from a technical, social and legal perspective. This an introductory presentation to this topical subject and solutions.
