Identity and privacy are inextricably intertwined; strong identity supports privacy protection by mitigating risks of unauthorized access to personal data. At the same time, the activities involved in establishing strong identity involve the processing of individuals' information and can therefore create privacy risks. This masterclass session provides attendees with essential privacy basics including an overview of why privacy matters particularly in identity as well as fundamentals such as definitions of personal data, an overview of the global regulatory landscape, privacy principles and values in action replete with practical examples from our presenters' collective industry and government experience. We’ll also highlight privacy themes stemming from hot topics such as age verification, facial recognition, and artificial intelligence. Practical privacy tools from National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Digital Identity Guidelines and Privacy Framework will be covered.
