Shireen Mitchell

Co-Founder; Human First Tech
Shireen founded Digital Sisters/Sistas Inc. the first organization to focus on women and girls of color in tech and online access. She created the first women of color web multimedia management firm (MHG). In addition, she founded Stop Online Violence Against Women (SOVAW) a project to address online threats against women particularly women who face both gender-based and racially charged threats of violence.

She is currently co-founder of Human First Tech. An organization that focuses on the reality that there is no technology to fix the human condition. We are complex multifaceted beings. This means that technological solutions should include multifaceted outcomes. We want to cultivate technologies that center the needs of community not just the networked individual.

How It will impact open standards and influence the practices that will evolve with this new layer of infrastructure. Our panel will discuss current research with highlights of the existing and future threats to security, identity, biometrics (i.e. facial recognition), and safety.
