Tim Sward is a security veteran focused on modernizing enterprise trust, cryptography, and security foundations at scale. At Target , Tim helped establish initial security practices that continue to underpin the organization today. He later led Target’s Privileged Access Management program, driving the shift toward stronger, identity-aware access controls.
In recent years, Tim’s work has centered on enterprise cryptography and crypto agility, spanning PKI modernization, secrets management, key lifecycle automation, and tokenization. He focuses on helping organizations transition from brittle, manually managed cryptographic systems to automated, identity-bound, post-quantum–ready architectures. Tim brings deep operational experience and strategic perspective to the challenge of aligning cryptographic change with IAM, Non-Human Identity, and Zero Trust principles.
