When people think of EV's most thoughts go to care for the environment, emissions control, autonomy, and safety features. My personal experience and set of motivators are about as far removed from that as you can imagine. The car is fast, fun to drive, wife-compatible, and costs 80% less to run than my V8 twin turbo Toyota Landcruiser. As an added bonus it was available via lease, with a government tax incentive that allows payment of the lease using pre-tax dollars. In the Australian tax environment this means lease payments are effectively half price.
Call me a cheapskate revhead if you wish, but those are the real reasons laid bare.
When discussing this amongst friends deriding me for selling out on tradition, I realised a similar set of observations can be made about the motivators for using passkeys. As industry professionals we tout phrases such as "phishing resistance", "impervious to credential stuffing", and "safer than a password". In reality normal humans don't give two hoots about any of that, until they become a victim of identity fraud. In this humorous journey of technology vs the human mind, Shane will guide the audience through the real motivators we need to use to sell passkeys to the masses and provide practical guidance on how to do that effectively.
