Description: Cars are about getting from point A to point B – now with a digitally enhanced driving or riding experience. Smart vehicles, predicted to be 95% of all new vehicles sold by 2030, are already turning manufacturers into subscription-based service providers. Manufacturers’ need for constant connectivity and data management is forcing them to grapple with providing sufficient security and privacy along with luxury and personal safety. Putting identity at the center of connected services and devices can solve manufacturers’ challenges of security protection, privacy protection, and personalization. This session will illustrate the digital identity innovations of a major automotive manufacturer. Demos will show how manufacturers can create owner identities at manufacture time, share real-time updates on manufacturing status, make digital keys available in consumer wallets at purchase time, automatically generate shareable digital keys, and let owners safely share vehicle subscription services. We’ll also discuss the larger principles of privacy and personal data permissions in an IoT context to allow a safe, secure data sharing ecosystem without selling out the driver.
