Description: Identity and privacy are inextricably intertwined; strong identity supports privacy protection by mitigating risks of unauthorized access to personal data. At the same time, the activities involved in establishing strong identity involve the processing of individuals’ information and can therefore create privacy risks. This session provides attendees with essential privacy basics, including an overview of the global regulatory landscape, privacy principles and values in action — replete with practical examples from our presenters’ collective industry and government experience. Practical privacy tools from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Digital Identity Guidelines and Privacy Framework will be covered. Attendees will also participate in interactive exercises that will challenge them to apply a privacy mindset.
