As the President and CEO of DirectTrust, Scott Stuewe is a well-known figure in the field of healthcare information exchange (HIE). DirectTrust is a nonprofit industry alliance and trust framework that instills trust in healthcare information exchange by ensuring that parties involved in such exchanges, including the patient/consumer, can be reliably identified by data holders prior to exchanges. The organization accredits issuers that meet policy and technical standards defined by trust communities. A collaboration with the CARIN Alliance and others produced a federated credential policy that is designed to allow credential service providers in multiple trust frameworks to issue credentials supporting single sign-on to all the care locations that hold their records.
