Things are advancing at a remarkable rate in the Identity industry. The speed with which new technologies and standards are being rolled out is reflective of the investment in innovation and collaborative efforts of both vendors and practitioners. But given the outsized impact that identity can have on people's lives, is "build fast, break fast" really the model we should be adopting?
The drive to recognize immediate value can reclassify too many use cases as edge cases pushed out to some indeterminate future. This can create unforeseen structural risks, and undermine trust in digital identity ecosystems, by introducing foundational flaws into their design and disadvantaging communities of users that rely on stability, accessibility, and inclusivity. This talk will examine these fundamental issues, and propose strategies to design resilient, accessible, and equitable identity systems.
