OpenID for Verifiable Credentials [OID4VC] is a suite of protocols for issuing and presenting verifiable credentials in various formats, notably IETF SD-JWT VC and ISO/IEC 18013-5 mDL. These protocols are valued for their simplicity, security, and flexibility, allowing implementers choice across the tech stack, including credential formats, entity identifiers, trust models, crypto suites, and revocation mechanisms. However, for interoperability and to deliver specific use cases, implementers need to agree on choices across the tech stack, typically known as interoperability profiles.
In my talk, I'll highlight updates to the OID4VC specifications influenced by extensive feedback and share the latest on the protocol conformance tests. I will also introduce the existing interoperability profiles based on OID4VC, drawing from feedback received from implementors.
