Grant Miller is a Distinguished Engineer and the Chief Technology Officer for Identity and Access Transformation and Securing AI at IBM. Based in Austin, Texas, Grant brings nearly 30 years of experience driving innovation in enterprise security, data protection, and AI safety.
Since joining IBM in 1996, Grant has held pivotal roles ranging from UNIX/C and Java programmer to Chief Architect and Head of Engineering. As CTO for Data Protection, Grant led strategies that safeguarded the integrity and security of IBM’s enterprise data. In Grant’s current role, the focus is on agentic identities and identity propagation—key to enabling trusted digital transformation and secure AI adoption.
An IBM Master Inventor and active leader in the company’s intellectual property community, Grant co-chairs the Security Focal Area within the Open Innovation Community. Grant’s work has been featured in IEEE publications, reflecting a commitment to advancing secure technology and end-user experiences.
Grant holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an MCIS in Software Engineering, and a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management.
