Vatsal Gupta is a senior identity and access management practitioner with over thirteen years of experience designing and securing large scale enterprise systems. He currently works at Apple, where he focuses on modern authorization architectures, policy based access control, and reducing security risk across complex engineering and supply chain environments. Prior to Apple, Vatsal worked at Meta and PwC, advising global organizations on IAM strategy, governance, and automation.
His work centers on fine grained authorization, identity governance, and bridging human access intent with enforceable policy. In recent years, he has focused on the safe use of AI in authorization, exploring how natural language and automation can support PBAC without introducing new security risks. His research examines policy automation, guardrails for AI generated access rules, and secure authorization for emerging autonomous systems.
Vatsal is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves on the ISSA Journal Editorial Advisory Board. He is an active contributor and reviewer for IDPro and regularly reviews papers for leading security conferences. He has also served as a judge for multiple cybersecurity awards. Through his work and community involvement, Vatsal aims to help identity teams adopt modern authorization approaches that are practical, secure, and trustworthy.
